Electric Motors in Toowoomba, Matched to the Job the First Time
When a motor goes down you don’t want a parts list, you want someone who’ll ask the right questions and get you the right unit before it costs you a day’s production.
Donaldson Electric Works stocks WEG industrial electric motors to 110kW here in Toowoomba, the largest motor range in Toowoomba and south-west Queensland, with access to the full range to 500kW in Australia and larger on special order. We supply the Darling Downs, western Queensland and beyond. Tell us what failed, or what you’re building.
The range
WEG industrial motors to 110kW, in stock
We stock and supply primarily WEG, one of the world’s largest motor manufacturers, with single and three phase motors in all frame sizes from 0.25kW fractional units up to 110kW, on the shelf in Toowoomba. Foot and flange mounts, all standard pole speeds, every motor to the IEC efficiency standard.
We also supply WEG geared motors, where a gearbox is built to the motor to deliver the exact output speed and torque your equipment needs, ready to bolt straight in. Tell us the speed and load and we’ll spec the right unit.
Beyond stock, we have access to the full WEG range up to 500kW in Australia, and larger units on special order direct from the factory. If it turns a shaft, we can get it. Want to check a motor’s specs, dimensions or drawings first?

Single Phase (240V)
For smaller equipment and lighter applications running off standard power: pumps, compressors, augers, workshop machinery.

Three Phase (415v)
The industrial workhorse. For production machinery, irrigation, processing, conveyors and everything that runs hard, all day.
Built tougher
Mine-spec motors: for dust, weather and hard running
A mine-spec motor is the heavy-duty tier of the standard range: a WEG W22 with a cast iron fan and upgraded sealing that keeps dust, grain, weather and washdown out of the works. The name comes from mining, but most of ours go to feedlots, farms and processing plants, because gear that lives outside in the elements lasts a lot longer when it’s built for it.
If your motors run in dust, around stock, or out in the weather, mine-spec is usually the smarter buy, and we’ll tell you when it isn’t worth the extra.
Need explosion-proof or zone-rated? That’s a different thing entirely. Certified hazardous-area motors have their own page: see Hazardous Area Motors.

Every brand
WEG first. Teco, CMG and the rest on call.
WEG is what we stock and what we’d put on most jobs. But we also carry Teco and CMG motors for the applications that suit them, and we have supply access to effectively every motor brand sold in Australia. If your site is standardised on a particular brand, or you’re matching existing equipment, we’ll get it.
WHY BUY FROM US?
The right spec, the first time
Get the spec wrong and you buy downtime. Our sales team and technicians identify the exact motor for your application, covering frame size, shaft, mounting, speed, starting method and operating conditions, so the replacement fits and runs without modification. That’s the difference between a supplier who knows motors and someone answering a phone next to a catalogue.

Largest stock in the region
The largest range of electric motors in stock across Toowoomba and south-west Queensland. When yours fails, the odds are the replacement is already on the shelf.
Breakdown response
Motors don’t fail at convenient times. We’ve opened the shop on a Sunday morning and delivered so a feedlot could feed that night. When it’s urgent, call and we’ll work it out.
Backed by our own workshop
We supply the equipment and we service it, from our own workshop, with our own technicians. When something needs attention, you have a local team that knows your gear, not a support ticket.
Motor protection to match
Soft starters and variable speed drives protect your motor and extend its life. Pairing WEG control gear with a WEG motor also extends the warranty. See Motor Automation & Control.
Common Questions
Electric motor questions, answered straight
It depends on the load, the speed and how it starts. Kilowatts alone don’t tell the story. Give us the details of what the motor is driving, or the nameplate off the old one, and we’ll size it properly: kW or HP, pole count and RPM, frame size, mounting, and the right starting method for your power supply. Sizing it right the first time is most of what we do.
Single phase motors run off standard 240V power and suit smaller equipment. Three phase motors run off 415V industrial power, deliver more output for their size, and are the standard for serious machinery. If you have three phase power available, it’s almost always the better option for anything that works hard.
The W21 is WEG’s standard aluminium-frame industrial motor and the workhorse of the range. The W22 is the cast iron series, sealed to a higher rating and built for more demanding applications. Above that sits the W22 mine-spec tier with a cast iron fan and upgraded sealing for dust and weather. We stock all three and we’ll tell you which one your application actually needs.
Yes. The largest range across Toowoomba and south-west Queensland, from 0.25kW to 110kW, on the shelf at our Wilsonton warehouse. If we don’t have your size, we can usually have it from the Brisbane warehouse within a day, or priority freight ex Brisbane, with warehouse collection available for emergency breakdowns.
A heavy-duty version of a standard industrial motor, with a cast iron fan and upgraded seals built to keep dust, grain and weather out. It’s not an explosion-proof or hazardous-area rating; it’s a durability upgrade, and it’s what we recommend for most motors living outdoors or in dusty conditions. For certified hazardous-area motors, see our Hazardous Area Motors page.
Yes. Bring us the nameplate details or the motor itself and we’ll match the frame, shaft, flange and mounting so the new unit bolts straight in, with no machining, no adaptor plates and no surprises at installation.
Yes. We stock motor start and run capacitors and common motor parts, and we’ll size the right capacitor for your motor over the phone. If a capacitor is all your motor needs, we’ll tell you that too, rather than selling you a motor.
In many cases yes, using a variable speed drive that converts single phase input to three phase output for smaller motors. It’s a common solution on farms and workshops without three phase supply. Call us with the motor size and we’ll confirm whether it’s the right approach for your setup. More on our Motor Automation & Control page.
Yes, we supply WEG geared motors, where the gearbox and motor come matched as one unit to deliver a set output speed and torque. Give us the speed and load your equipment runs at, or the details off the existing unit, and we’ll spec the right gearing so it drops straight in.
WEG motors are made by WEG in Brazil, where the company produces millions of motors a year, with manufacturing across several countries. WEG is one of the largest motor manufacturers in the world, and the Australian range is fully supported with local stock and parts.
It ranges from a few hundred dollars for small single phase units to five figures for large industrial motors. Pricing on our stocked range is stable and we can quote it on the spot. Call with your size and application and you’ll have a price in the same conversation.
If a motor is critical to your operation, yes. A small conveyor motor failing can stop an entire plant. We recommend holding critical spares for the motors your operation can’t run without, and rotating them into service so the spare is always proven. We’ll help you work out which ones justify it.
