Donaldson Electric Works runs a service and repair department behind everything we sell. It is the reason buying from a regional specialist beats buying a motor or generator off a website or a big-box retailer: when something needs commissioning, servicing or fixing, we have the technicians and the workshop to do it, here in Toowoomba, across the Darling Downs and out into regional Queensland.
What we service and repair
Motors, generators, weigh systems and more, since 1952
Donaldson Electric Works has run a repair workshop since 1952, and we hold records of the motors we have rewound going back decades. Our qualified electricians, workshop equipment and long experience mean that whatever you bring in, we have very likely fixed one like it before. Most work comes into the workshop in Toowoomba or is handled on location around the Darling Downs.
Electric motor rewinding & repair
We rewind and overhaul industrial electric motors, and transformers, using quality bearings and seals, with every motor fully tested after rewinding. Rewinding can be more cost-effective than replacing a motor of the same capacity, particularly for larger or special-purpose units that are difficult or expensive to replace. On smaller motors, replacement is often the better call, and we will tell you honestly which way yours should go.
Generator & alternator repair
We service, overhaul and repair generators and gensets of all brands, makes and models, repair and replace alternators, and load test sets to confirm they perform under real load. A regular service catches worn parts before a breakdown takes you offline.
Livestock weighing systems
We calibrate, repair and overhaul livestock weighing systems, primarily Tru-Test, along with Gallagher and other major brands. We service load bars, indicators, and NLIS wands and readers, the equipment graziers rely on for accurate weights and sound livestock decisions.
Welders & energisers
We service and repair welders of all makes, including authorised warranty work for the brands we support, and we also sell and repair electric fence energisers and repair all brands.
Warranty and authorised repairs
An authorised repairer for what we sell
Donaldson Electric Works is a WEG authorised dealer, and we are authorised service and warranty agents for most of the brands we supply, across motors, generators, welders, weigh systems and energisers.
That means if something goes wrong inside the warranty period, you deal with the same people who sold it to you, locally, rather than shipping it interstate or arguing with an online seller. We are a licensed Queensland electrical contractor, licence no. 85951.
Why it matters when you buy
The safety net you do not get buying online
A new industrial motor rarely breaks down. But equipment does need setting up, commissioning and, occasionally, fixing, and that is where the supplier you chose starts to matter. Buy from us and service and repair are built in: a regional workshop and technicians who can put things right, close by. Buy a motor or generator from a distant website and that backup is not part of the deal.
For setup and commissioning, especially on generators and motor automation in regional areas, we provide remote and on-site support, and we are happy to work alongside your electrician to diagnose and commission gear. From Toowoomba we support customers right across the Darling Downs and out to the wider corridors we serve.
