Portable Generators Built for Farms, Sites and Hard Work
Power where there’s no power. For fencing, pumps, livestock water, and running tools on a work site, a portable generator earns its keep the first time you need it.
Donaldson Electric Works supplies Powerlite roll-frame and TecnoGen silenced portable generators from 8kVA to 15kVA, in stock in Toowoomba and out across the Darling Downs. Our Powerlite units are built to our own spec, tougher than standard for the conditions they actually work in. Tell us the job and we’ll point you to the right one.
The Workhorse
Powerlite roll-frame generators, built to Donaldson’s spec
Australian-made Powerlite roll-frame generators for sale from 8kVA to 15kVA, in stock and ready to go, the agricultural and trade workhorse. Honda and Briggs & Stratton Vanguard engines depending on model, in heavy-duty welded roll frames built to move around a farm or site. These are the units that run welders, shearing plant, air compressors, pumps and tools where mains doesn’t reach, on farms, job sites and everywhere off the grid across the Downs.
The Powerlite roll-frame units we stock are built specifically for Donaldson’s, with upgrades over the standard product: thermal overloads and weatherproof outlets, because they spend their lives outdoors and working. That is the difference between a generator that survives a few seasons and one that doesn’t.
Thermal overloads
Upgraded protection, built in at Donaldson’s request.
Weatherproof outlets
Made for outdoor, all-weather work.
Roll-frame build
Move it where the job is.
Need three-phase off a portable? Several of the Powerlite units come in a 3-phase variant, available to order. Tell us the load and we’ll sort the right one.

Why Buy From Us
The right unit, built for the work
A portable generator is only cheap until it fails in the paddock. We supply units built for the conditions, our Powerlite roll-frame generators are upgraded to our own spec for exactly that reason, and we back them with our own service department in Toowoomba. Buy from us and you’re dealing with people who know what these units go through, not a warehouse interstate.

Built tougher, on purpose
Our Powerlite units carry thermal overloads and weatherproof outlets over the standard product, because they work outdoors for a living.

Common questions
Portable generator questions, answered straight
It depends on what you’re running and whether it has electric motors that surge at start-up. For fencing, lights and small tools, the smaller units do the job; for pumps, welders or several tools at once, you’ll want a roll-frame 8 to 15kVA. Tell us what you need to run and we’ll size it so it starts and holds the load.
The Powerlite roll-frame units are the agricultural and trade workhorses (8 to 15kVA), open-frame, built to move around a farm or site, and upgraded to our spec for outdoor work. The TecnoGen units (a 12kVA petrol and a 10kVA diesel) are enclosed and sound-dampened for jobs that need portable power without the noise. Roll-frame for grunt and site work, TecnoGen where noise matters.
Yes. The Powerlite roll-frame units we stock are built specifically for Donaldson’s, with thermal overloads and weatherproof outlets added over the standard product. It’s a durability upgrade for the outdoor, all-weather work these generators actually do.
Yes, the common Powerlite roll-frame sizes and both TecnoGen silenced units are on the shelf in Toowoomba. If you need a size we don’t stock, we can order it in from the wider Powerlite range. Call to check what’s available.
Yes, that’s exactly what the roll-frame units are for. The thing to get right is the starting surge, a pump motor draws several times its running load at start-up, so the generator has to be sized for that, not just the running figure. Tell us the pump or the tools and we’ll match a unit that starts them cleanly.
For running gear where there’s no mains, a portable is ideal. But if you want reliable standby power for a whole property or operation, you’re better off with a silenced generator and an automatic changeover, so it starts and takes the load on its own when the grid drops. See our Silenced Generators range, and we’ll help you work out which suits.
It depends on the size and the build, from a smaller roll-frame unit up to an enclosed silenced set. Call with the size and the job and we’ll give you a real price on the spot.
Quiet & Enclosed
TecnoGen silenced portable generators
For jobs that need portable power but can’t have the noise, we stock two TecnoGen silenced units: a petrol 12kVA and a diesel 10kVA. Enclosed and sound-dampened, they sit between the open roll-frame Powerlites and the big fixed silenced range, portable enough to move, quiet enough to run near people. The diesel unit in particular suits longer runs and anyone who’d rather run diesel than petrol.

Bigger Job?
When you need fixed or standby power
Portables are for power on the move. If you need standby power for a whole operation, a feedlot, irrigation, or a site that can’t go dark, that’s the silenced diesel range, sized to your load with automatic changeover.
Rule of thumb: if it moves with you, you’re on the right page. If it stays put and powers the operation, head to Silenced Generators.
Get the Right Portable
Tell us the job, we’ll sort the unit
